Meet the Maker

Hi! I’m Shannon, letterer, sign maker, doer-of-all-the-things at Wright Lettering. I’m a self-taught modern lettering artist based in the State College area. I love being able to make the pretty things that make an event special, a great present, or become a talking point in your house.

In school, I was always the kid sitting in the back of the class so they could doodle in the margins without getting caught, writing their friends names in cute ways, convincing the teacher to let them make a poster instead of writing a paper, and making bright colorful study guides (highly recommended for an A).

I started selling hand-painted glassware as a creative side job in 2012. While experimenting one day, I painted “good morning beautiful” and “good morning handsome” coffee mugs and my obsession with lettering was born.

When my husband Kyle and I got married in 2015, I designed and lettered a large set of chalkboards for our wedding. I spent hours on those chalkboards, but loved every.single.minute.

I’ve lived in State College, PA, all my life with the exception of two years during grad school in Charleston, SC. That time away made me fall in love with the change of seasons, a long drive down a back road and rolling farmland with a clear blue sky in the background.

My trusty assistants are our rescue dog Ace (I’m sure you’ll hear him when you pick up your order *insert eye roll here*) and one year old baby girl Allie.

My non-lettering self loves old architecture, interior design, and DIY projects. On the weekend, you can probably find us checking out a local brewery, hiking in the woods, or working on the never ending projects around our house.
